The Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation is one of the world’s largest and most influential social sciences and humanities research institutes. The institute’s key research themes include social inclusion, globalisation, diversity, multiculturalism and, most recently, the impacts of COVID-19 on society.
In addition to our institutes and research centres, Deakin’s four faculties contribute to research that’s advancing society, culture and the economy. Deakin Motion.Lab is a state-of-the-art motion capture facility. It allows our researchers, teachers and students to interact with rich virtual worlds, tell stories and explore ideas from previously unseen angles. Recently, Motion.Lab’s virtual reality capabilities were used to develop a video game to treat amblyopia, often referred to as lazy eye.
